Moving your business from one office location to another is a long process with many steps that must be considered. The process of moving is hard and complicated which is why you would be wise to break the tasks down and allow specific employees to be in charge of certain moving processes. Create a Plan

The plan is what you’ll refer to when things get complicated. A detailed plan keeps you on track because it allows you to work out in advance whether your moving goals are achievable in a specific timeframe. It also lets your team members know what is expected of them while the move is ongoing.

Be aware that the move might take longer than you’d expected. For example, a small office will require about three months of preparation before the move will be complete while a large or medium-sized office may take up to 8 months.

Design Your New Space

Before you move things out of one location, you need to know how they will fit in the new one. You can do this with ease by getting your hands on the floor-plans or blueprints of the new locations so that you can decide on which supplies are best kept in which store room and begin working on your new office layout. If there are any problem areas fitting into the the new location then they will become apart at this stage.

Keep note of any problems as they arise. You’ll want to keep record of whether you might need extra storage space, a larger reception area or the erection of temporary walls within the office space. Carpenters, electricians and systems installers may be needed to come in and make some changes before you are ready to finalize the move.

Find the Right Movers

Moving is the process of taking your assets and property from one fixed location to another. Those assets and property were expensive to buy so you will want to make sure that your moving company gets everything across in working condition. You’ll need professionals in order to get it done right.

The movers will have to work closely with your employees. If you are moving from a large office then you would be advised to appoint one employee from each section of the office to be in charge of coordinating with the movers to make sure that all the files, desks and chairs are packed properly.
